About Urban Words

URBAN WORDS is an art project in motion featuring photos of letter forms taken in Minneapolis by local fine art photographer, Brenda Johnson. All of Brenda’s art (and jewelry) focus on “repurposed” production. 90% of the materials used to produce Urban Words are recycled. Each Urban Word is unique! No two are exactly the same and each “word of art” is signed, dated and numbered “1-of-1”.

Order a name, a phrase, or a single word that means something special to someone!
URBAN WORDS are produced in 4x6 or 2x3 letters and are mounted to black, brushed silver or frosted plexiglass mounting boards. Click here to view and print an order form.

New products are always being designed! Watch our retail locations for Urban Words: Paris Edition, Urban Words: New York City Edition, Urban Word Flash Cards (not necessarily for kids!) and Make Them Yourself Urban Words (letters are magnets and adhere to metal strips).
URBAN WORDS are a permanent installment at the Richfield STEM Public School and on display from time to time at The Dining Studio, in NE Minneapolis.

URBAN WORDS
(and URBAN WORD greeting cards) can be purchased at retail locations such as GUILD The Bee Cottage and I like You, and at special events sponsored by West Elm in Edina, MN.
